Who We Are

For the past decade, ForestEthics has been stringing together one victory after another--and in the process has changed the way environmentalists protect forests. Instead of engaging in costly litigation that can remain stalled in our nation's courts for years, or attempting to lobby our legislatures in today's conservative climate, ForestEthics harnesses the power of the marketplace to reform ecologically unsound business practices. And the results have been remarkable—over five million acres of Endangered Forests saved and environmental commitments procured from some of the largest corporations on the planet.

How We Protect Forests

  • Market campaigns: Using the power of the marketplace, we steer consumers away from environmentally destructive products and eliminate the incentive for corporations to use ecologically unsound practices.

  • Corporate norming: After securing commitments from industry leaders, we use that leverage to obtain similar commitments from competitors in the industry, creating an environment where companies are competing to be the most 'environmental'.

  • Corporate Action Program (CAP): We help steer companies that want to be 'greener' towards more environmentally sound business practices.
